Let's Try This Again...

So obviously I've been a horrible slacker when it comes to updating my blog. It's been almost two years since my first (and only) post, so we'll see if I can catch up! And also...that last post was done by someone other than me (who shall remain nameless...for the sake of avoiding embarrassment...haha). Not that it isn't necessarily true! I just don't want people thinking I'm playing favorites ;)

So for what's happened in the past two years...well, I graduated high school, then I worked two jobs that summer at home. I worked at the movie theater and at the Fairfield hotel doing housekeeping. Then in the fall I headed up to Rexburg to attend BYU-Idaho! At the time I was a Photography major and a Dance minor. For the second semester, I tried out and made the Collegiate Contemporary Dance Team, which was so much fun! And then summer came and I moved back home, where I worked at the hotel again.

Then I came back up to school for my sophomore year, and did the Collegiate team again. It was also that semester that I decided to change my major to dance, and have photography as my minor instead. So that was an exciting (and slightly nerve-wracking) change in my life! And then in December I sent my boyfriend off on his mission to Brazil. We had dated for a little over 9 months, and had been best friends for a while before that so it was hard to see him go, but he's been doing so good!!

After the Christmas break I came up again and prepared for the dance major auditions, and I had decided to audition for Dance Alliance, which is the big deal touring dance team for BYU-Idaho. I was incredibly nervous for it, and had no idea if I would be able to make it, but I did! Talk about a miracle! And in February I did the dance major audition. Surprisingly it wasn't as scary as the auditions for Dance Alliance, but I think that's because I was only auditioning with 5 other people, all of whom I was friends with. Anyways, after the audition it took about 2 weeks to find out if I made it or not. When I found out that my letter had come in, I was on campus in the middle of classes, but I ran home to find out anyway. I just opened the letter at the mailbox, and found out that had I made it!! That was one of the best moments of my life.

So now I'm basically just a dancing fool! Last semester we learned the first half of our tour show, which we performed in Extravadance along with the Collegiate dance teams. We'll be learning the rest of the show this semester, and will have another Extravadance that we'll have on July 8, 9, and 10. And then we go on tour for two weeks at the end of this semester! We'll be going up to northern Idaho, Oregon, California, and Nevada. Anyways, that's just very brief update of my life, and I'll do my best to keep it updated! :)

Melissa Is Awesome!!
